My felted installation, digital correspondences & pattern designs, rooted in emotional expression, further translates an artificial intelligence-generated composition from the textual input of my journal entries. Through felting, I navigate the tangibility of feelings and the limitations of language in communication. Materializing text embraces the abstraction inherent in language. This project probes the entangled realms of public-private, permanence-temporality, digital-embodied, and personal agency within information spaces. It echoes the unstructured nature of felt, contrasting institutional order, symbolizing chaos, and my internal rhythms. This interdisciplinary approach mirrors diverse modes of information materialization.

it’s interesting to me how language systems are built off of patterns. And so if I choose to make a project hiding my language within an AI generated composition as the starting sketch, it only makes sense to design some patterns.

The only continued shared dialogue is the project title & tagline :

and so I thought to put the pattern with the birds in a public space like an airport for example. Airports are so public yet beautiful spaces for solitude, it’s where no one knows your name. People are alone together at airports.

the second pattern is filled with my favorite visual elements of the corresponding abstractions made. It felt right to use it as a sweatshirt design ~ something embodied, on one’s body. Something for warmth, comfort, and security. Sometimes words can do no more & all there is left to do is soothe one’s heart with a hug or a warm cup of soup, or the coziest crew neck more than double their size.

The third pattern felt like fabulous wallpaper to my novice interior design soul. It is comprised solely of elements from digital correspondences. & so that made me start to picture the best place for it to be is in some generated, interior domestic living room. It’s like I am choosing to make my own metaphorical interior space out of whatever I needed to transform within those journal entries that started this project’s sketch.
